Miley Cyrus Talks About the Twilight-Saga

Miley Cyrus just keeps on making headlines.

After her much-talked about pole-dancing at the Teen’s Choice Awards 2009, Twitter-quitting episode involving a cat-sacrificing fan, and tour bus-flipping incident that killed her driver, comes the “Hannah Montana” star dissing the “Twilight” franchise.

"I don't believe in it," said Miley in an interview.. "I don't like vampires. I don't like the wolf that pops out of the screen when I'm watching my TV at night. I don't like it. I don't want anything to do with it. I don't like the shirts. I don't like any of it."

The Teen Queen believes that the popular vampire series by Stephanie Meyer has made a cult out of its rabid fan girls.

“I think it’s a cult. I think it’s bad. I think it’s, like, just people get too [much] into it. I feel really lame because everyone is so excited and I’m like, ‘Don’t even talk about it,’” she blurted.

She who has not seen and will never see, according to her, the film adaptations, added that “Twilight” creates impossible illusions on youth that borders on an unreachable ideal.

“For me, I think it’s like when guys look at supermodels and they’re like, ‘That’s the perfect girl.' That’s what those kinds of movies do to us.

“They’re like thinking that’s what girls should be like and not everyone is going to be Edward [Cullen], hate to say it,” Miley said frankly.

What she did love to say was that the Sexiest Man Alive, Johnny Depp, “is way hotter than Robert Pattinson, for sure.”

Still, Miley’s opinion won’t stop “Twilight”’s second installment, “New Moon,” from making history.

The film, which stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, is said to have the “third biggest opening weekend in film history,” after not just biting, but sucking $140.7 M on its first weekend in cinemas.

“New Moon” now trails behind “The Dark Knight” and “Spiderman 3,” which grossed $158.4 M in 2008 and $151.1 M in 2007, respectively.

However, it wolfed down the Christian Bale and Heath Ledger starrer when it raked $72.7 M on its opening day on Nov. 20, outdoing “Dark Knight” which made $67.2 M.

It also seems as though Miley only attracted more haters than lovers for her “biting” remark. One entertainment website, “The Hollywood Gossip,” branded her “a jealous hypocrite.”

“Having lost a bit of her spotlight to the Twilight Saga and its cast, a bitter Miley Cyrus continues to slam the franchise,” their article’s lead read.

Even people who commented on related articles somehow echoed this sentiment.

“Whether Twilight sucks or not is completely irrelevant. You can't make much of an opinion unless you're familiar with it, and to be familiar with Twilight you would have to watch or read it. She's also very inarticulate. Can you say ‘like?’” said one user.

“Lol [laugh out loud] wow. She's just mad to see something that has a bigger teen fan following than ‘Hannah Montana.’ Oh Miley… ‘I don't listen to pop music!’ But you sing pop music!!” yelled another.

One calm commentator added: “The way I see it is that if you don't like something there's nothing wrong with saying it out loud but I don't think you should bash it just ‘cause [it’s] not your thing.

“And we all know that ‘Twilight’ is not a Pulitzer Prize winning book or a best picture winner for the Oscars but [that’s] OKAY. Not every movie and book has to tap into the human soul and make you want to be a better person.”

Another fan exclaimed: “Miley needs to shut the hell up. And yes she is a hypocrite and it's ALL JEALOUSY PEOPLE! I don't mind Miley having an opinion but she doesn't know crap about Twilight and its fans so SHE DOESN'T HAVE ROOM TO TALK. TWILIGHT [DESERVES] BETTER and I'm glad she's not part of this fandom.”
